About T.A. Nelson & Associates Private Investigations

• T.A. grew up in Goleta, graduating from San Marcos High School in 1965. After serving four years in the USAF, T.A. joined the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office in 1970 where he served for 35 years.

• T.A. was a patrol officer, a Forgery Fraud Detective, a Narcotics, Vice and Intelligence Investigator and a patrol Sergeant in Santa Barbara, Santa Ynez Valley, and Santa Maria.

• T.A. managed the Coroner Bureau and the Toxicology Laboratory; T.A. also was the Supervising Bailiff in the Santa Barbara Superior Court before he retired as a Sergeant in 2005. T.A. then went to work as a U.S. Bankruptcy Court Security Officer under a contract with the United States Marshal Service and retired from there in 2021.

• T.A. obtained his California Private Investigation license in 2023 and has been working with other licensed investigation firms since 2021.

• T.A. is also a Registered Process Server in the County of Santa Barbara and works with other local companies.

• T.A. has been on many boards of directors over the past several years, including two HOA’s, the San Lorenzo Foundation Board, and as Commodore of the Pierpont Bay Yacht Club in 2008. He remains a Staff Commodore at PBYC.

• T.A. has been married for 30 years and he and his wife have five children who grew up in the Santa Ynez Valley.
